Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month “A Day in the life of Asian Pacific America”
A workshop to honor the 145th anniversary of the Golden Spike on May 10th—ceremonial joining of the transcontinental railroad. The photograph documenting this event, excluded the Chinese Railroad workers. You will learn more about the legacy of Chinese Railroad workers and exclusion laws, including issues facing current day Asian Americans.
And to help prepare for May 10th, you will also hear tips on how to capture meaningful images from professional photographer, Christopher Huang! christopherhuang.com.
Join Smithsonian's Asian Pacific American Center “A Day in the Life of Asian Pacific America” to document your day in pictures or video, and be sure to tag your submission from “Boston” to be included in the local event this Fall!
Rachel Eio (BHS Japanese teacher) has shared with us the exciting news that two of the photos from Brookline High School's Sakura Matsuri festival were included in the final Smithsonian exhibit. See the link here:http://smithsonianapa.org/life2014/ritual/
