Driscoll School
2021 Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Projects
Ms. Lan Wu, grade 4-8 Mandarin teacher, and Ms. Wan Wang K-4 Mandarin teacher invited all K-8 students to work on this project for the past two weeks with the help of parent volunteer, Marina. Middle school students used what they learned in Mandarin class to find out more information about these people and wrote introductions in Mandarin. K-5 students cut their own hand shaped paper and wrote down their goals for a better community. We put a mirror in the middle because we believe students see themselves among these people! It is an empowering and meaningful learning experience for all of us. I hope you all enjoyed it! See closeups of the students' beautiful drawings and writings in the photos below |
To continue the celebration of AAPI Heritage month, Driscoll School teachers, specialists and principals each read a couple of pages from Grace Lin's 2019 Caldecott Honor award winning book
' A Big Mooncake by Little Star'. This video project took Ms. Wan Wang two weeks to produce and create. Click on the picture of the book below to watch them read and to listen to the engaging story! |
